🐕What my Dog Taught Me About Humility
I am usually a very humble guy. I enjoy learning and having fun, but I generally know how to stay humble and not get too overly confident about my role as a human being. Having to take care of my dog over the past 9 years has woken me up to a whole new level of humility. Here I am, a grown man responsible for making serious life decisions, walking around in the cold waiting for my dog to do her business so I can clean it up. Who is really the boss here? I am the boss, or is she? My wife will tell me that the dog has won that battle. It doesn’t stop with that. Every morning she wakes me up. She carries on relentlessly at dinner time for her food. Every morning as I cook her two scrambled eggs for breakfast, she stares at me until she knows the eggs are in the pan to be cooked. She then lays off the harassment for a while until enough time has gone where she thinks the eggs should be ready.
When all is said and done, the love I get back in return is wonderfully powerful. The lesson to be learned from all of this is that when it comes to leadership, we need to be a little more servant minded. When we unconditionally take on a servant mindset, our humility shows through. This helps develop trust and respect for one another. My dog taught me that humility is a virtue to be developed and honored.

🏆What I am learning
🎬My Content Creator game is getting better. I am playing around with some thumbnail designs through Canva to see what sticks. I figure now is a good time to nail down a style that reflects my brand but is also effective in getting people to click on them. I also set aside some time when recording my videos to take pictures that I can then use for the thumbnail. This gives me some higher quality options of photos when I am designing the thumbnails.
🔗I started browsing some of the courses in Codecademy. I will keep you posted on what I decide to dig in to.

📊Random Insights
I have always read that journaling your thoughts is a powerful way of releasing your creativity and clearing your mind. I never paid it much attention until recently. Before starting this newsletter, I tried some journaling apps to capture my thoughts every night but never really got into the habit of doing it consistently.
Now that I am doing these weekly updates, I am realizing how powerful it is to purposely reflect on my time and capture my thoughts. Each week when I sit down to write this, I am forced to think about what I did during the week. As a result, I have found a need to capture my thoughts more frequently so that I don’t forget. Notion has helped me devise a journaling method that has been working. Each time I find something interesting I will send it to my Notion dashboard in my “Brain Dump” database for later reference. Not only does this help me remember what I did, but it also helps me clear my mind and free up space for new ideas to flourish. My creativity is let loose when I am not trying to use my brain cells to remember things. The fact that I have that idea written down I can let it go from my mental storage to free up that space.
I encourage all of you to find a way of freeing up space in your mind so that new thoughts can come in. Start simple by getting into a daily habit of building a do to list. As soon as you think of something that you have to do, add it to your to do list and forget about it. You will find this daily practice will open the doors to new creativity that you did not know you had. I’m curious to hear from you on how you are doing.
